Handicaps

To get set up on the Carton System with a Handicap you must:

  1. Complete a handicap form (from Francis Howley on joining Carton, this also applies to members who are re-joining after missing a year or more))
  2.  A Cert from your previous club and a compete handicap record for the previous 2 years.
  3. If a new Golfer or one who has not been a member in the previous year you need to submit cards for 54 holes (18 or 9 hole combinations) played at Carton. These must be placed in an envelope in the Mens competition box at Carton.
  4. Any emails must be sent to mensclub@cartonhousemembers.com

Handicaps

If you are a member of more than one club you must nominate one as your home club for handicapping purposes. Failure to do this will result in variances in handicaps between each club and will result in disqualification if found to be playing off a lower handicap that what would be calculated if all scores were returned to your home club. It is the responsibility of the golfer to ensure they are playing off the lowest handicap that reflects their level of play.

There will be a review of Members handicaps in March to ensure new members play and members winter play evidence is reviewed.

Remember: You must play 3 qualifying competitions at your home golf club in the 12 months up to qualifying to play in an away competition.

Ready Golf is here at Carton

Team Carton - Ready Golf - Reducing your round times.

As part of our Team Carton initiative and our commitment to try to improve your overall golfing experience at Carton House we have launched READY GOLF for an initial evaluation period until end May.

The objective is reduce the time it takes to complete a round of golf by 10 to 15 minutes while remaining courteous to all players. We are asking players to focus on being ready to play your shot safely when it is your turn. In READY GOLF the traditional Honour system is superseded by whoever is ready to play. Clearly if all players are ready then normal courtesy applies and the honour system prevails.

Here are some ideas:

ON THE TEE

•The player who is ready should safely hit. Generally shortest first.
•Hit a provisional ball if your first ball appears to be in trouble.

ON THE FAIRWAY

•Go safely and directly to your own ball and get ready to play. Don’t “cluster” at one ball for sequential play.
•Eliminate excessive practice swings
•Play your ball when ready and safe to do so.

ON THE GREEN

•Place trolley and clubs between the green and the next tee.
•Study your putt while others are putting.
•Continue putting until holed out for short puts.
•Leave the green immediately after holing out and proceed to the next tee.

Our expectation is that the round time can be reduced by 10 to 15 minutes by adopting a Ready Golf approach. We will measure the round cycle time to determine its effectiveness. Your comments are very valuable so please email them to menslub@cartonhousemembers.com
