As my first address to the members I am firstly like to wish all our members great golf this year and I am looking forward to my role as Captain of the Mens club this year. I would like to also wish Margaret Mooney best wishes in her appointment as Lady Captain.

I would like to thank everyone who helped make the Captains Drive in a fantastic day. Margaret and I were very fortunate with the weather and also the number of members attending.

Following on from the survey submitted from our members last year there are two mains issues that arose, Communications from the Committee to the Membership and speed of play. We as a committee are committed to improving on these issues.

WEBSITE:

We are at present revamping our website and we are expecting to go live in a month or so. This new website will form the basis of future communications from the committee to the members.

SPEED OF PLAY:

 I would like to remind members of the recommended speed of play as indicated in the Diary.

Four Ball            O’Meara:             4 Hours 20 Minutes

                                Montgomerie    4 Hours 30 Minutes

Three Ball         O’Meara              3 Hours 45 Minutes

                                Montgomerie    3 Hours 55 Minutes

There are also few items which I would like to highlight for the forthcoming year:

VICE CAPTAINS DAY:

Vice Captains Day is being held on Saturday May 12^th, it is anticipated that we will use this occasion to mark the 10^th Anniversary of Carton House Golf Club by holding a social evening in the Club house.

Members should also note that Vice Captains Day is a one day competition.

MEMBERS AWAY DAY:

We planning a member’s away day later in the summer and details will be announced nearer the time.

ITEMS OF NOTE TO DATE

FRED DALY 2011

I would like to congratulate the 2011 Fred Daly winning team on continuing their winning ways in Spain earlier this month by winning the Home Nations Club Championship in Antequera Spain.

The played exceptionally well in very tough conditions to overcome Teams from Scotland, England and Wales.

I would also like to congratulate our 2012 Fred Daly Team on qualifying in 1^st Place in Rathcore finishing 23 Shots of their nearest rivals.

INTERCLUB TEAMS

I would like to thank all our members who are at present participating in the Interclub Programme for 2012.

Our Interclub season has begun and we are as at time of penning this message unbeaten and my congratulations go to managers and players of these teams.

·         Leinster FourBall Defeated Black Bush

·         Barton Cup Defeated Moy Valley

·         Mixed Defeated Hermitage

·         Fred Daly Team Qualified in 1^st Place.

Best of luck to our Straffan Cup team this weekend( Saturday 21^st)  that are playing Dun Laoighaire Golf Club teeing off at 2pm, If you are in the club on Saturday afternoon why not drop over to the O’Meara and support the lads.

APRIL MEDAL

My congratulations also go to Shay Deegan on winning the April Medal with a fantastic score of 67.

On a final note our committee and sub committees are continually looking for members for assistance in the running of the men’s club. If there any are members available for a small number of hours per month please let any of the committee members know.
